Children (10):
Family notes for John OTTLEY and Mary GOODWIN It is notable that Mary GOODWIN died just a couple of weeks before her youngest child, and
husband John OTTLEY died a few weeks later. I wonder if this could have been the result of
typhoid, which was a problem in Bollington in the latter half of the 1800s due to inadequate
sanitation. The sewers were not laid until after the turn of the 20th century. See
Recreation Ground – History, paragraph headed The Recreation Ground
and Public Health. [Webmaster]
