Together with every other community throughout the country we in Bollington hold a parade and Service of Remembrance each year at our war memorial. Poppy wreaths from many local groups and individuals are laid at the memorial. The two modern remembrance pillars are in the background of this picture. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2018 the parade and service were held on Sunday 11th November, particularly poignant as this was the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice in 1918, to the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

In 2011 <\/span>the parade and service were held on Sunday 13th November, a pleasant, slightly warm autumn morning. Cllr Graham Hibbert, Mayor of Bollington, lays the wreath on behalf of the Town at the annual Remembrance Service.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The sandstone cross records the names of those Bollington men who fell in, firstly, WWI, and then, added with difficulty, those lost in WWII. It was discovered that a number of fallen men were missing from the memorial and so two new stone monuments were erected adjacent to the cross recording more clearly the names of all men (there were no women lost) who fell in both world wars.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new memorial monuments were erected and dedicated in 2015 in order to contain the names of all<\/em> those who died in the two world wars.<\/span><\/p>\n
