{"id":16877,"date":"2021-05-18T11:39:58","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T10:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=16877"},"modified":"2021-10-16T19:19:43","modified_gmt":"2021-10-16T18:19:43","slug":"btc-working-groups","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=16877","title":{"rendered":"BTC Working Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new Bollington Town Council (BTC) structure aims to build a stronger relationship with the local community through a <strong>community-involved<\/strong> approach to decision making.<\/p>\n<p>The key change is the creation of <strong>Working Groups.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;It is a kind of extension of the process that was used for developing the <strong>Neighbourhood Plan back in 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working Groups are to be made up of Councillors and interested residents. There are six of them:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Transport and Travel<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC Planning and Town Development Committee;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Events<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC Community and Environment Committee;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Business, Economy and Tourism<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC&nbsp;Community and Environment Committee;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bollington 2030<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC Community and Environment Committee;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Emergency Resilience<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC Community and Environment Committee;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Equality Diversity and Inclusion<\/strong>: Reports to the BTC Personnel and Asset Management Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each BTC committee reports in turn to the full council.<\/p>\n<p>All these Working Groups have Terms of Reference and regulations for membership and voting rights. <strong>Residents who join the Working Group will have full voting rights. <\/strong>There are no limits on the number of residents but there must be some sensible compromise at a cut off point in each case.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore ideas and recommendations will flow upwards from a community-influenced Working Group to BTC who will take the final decisions as elected members as to which proposals will take practical form.<\/p>\n<p>The theory is a good one sponsored by Jo Maitland our new Mayor (2021\/22) and other Councillors. Let&#8217;s see if we can make the practice come up to the promise.<\/p>\n<p>Membership of Working Groups from outside the Council is not limited to residents but we hope residents will take a strong interest and commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Further information about any working group is available.
