On the other side Shrigley Court wardened flats, modern brick houses of Vine Street, the redundant St. John&#8217;s church within its large churchyard and a dozen 1930s semi-detached houses reaching round the corner towards Lord Street. Church Street ends at the river bridge, not at the end of the straight length of street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Approach off <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2365\">Palmerston Street<\/a> at the roundabout. At least four of them were built in the 19thC as single story properties and then had a second floor added in brick at a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=963\">St. John&#8217;s church<\/a> was last used in May 2003. The plan is that it is to be converted into apartments, but we have been waiting a very long time for some action on this!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Shrigley Court is wardened accommodation for the elderly. It was brick built in 1973 , entirely out of character with the area, to replace an area of very poor quality cottages which comprised Union Street, Vine Street and Hope Street, known collectively as The Square. <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2415\">Vine Street<\/a> was re-built in the 1970s with brick houses.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr>\r\n<h3>Listed<a name=\"Listed\"><\/a> structures<\/h3>\r\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=4163\">Listed Buildings page<\/a> for the full list and notes regarding Listed, Article 4, and SPD properties.<\/p>\r\n<p>The links on the structures are to the\u00a0Historic England web site.
