One of the oldest properties in the district is Mode Hill Farm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The distinguished physicist <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=5058\">Sir James Chadwick (1891-1974) <\/a>was born in one of the cottages in Clarke Lane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Clarke Lane was once known as The Lane of Bollington (1830\/40).
