Smithy Brow runs from the Poacher&#8217;s Inn at the end of Ingersley Road up to the junction with Spuley Lane, Blaze Hill and Oakenbank Lane. Blaze Hill continues up to the Macclesfield \/ Whaley Bridge road. These are both country lanes with very few houses and the occasional farm.<\/p>\n<p>Approach from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2312\">Ingersley Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Leads to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2407\">Spuley Lane<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2359\">Oakenbank Lane<\/a>, Rainow village, Whaley Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Nearest shops &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2365\">Palmerston Street<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nearest pub &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=214\">Poacher&#8217;s Inn<\/a> at the bottom of Smithy Brow.<\/p>\n<p>Council Ward &#8211;&nbsp;Rainow.<\/p>\n<p>The cottage to the right of the triangle at the top of Smithy Brow used to be the smithy &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=9976\">Orme&#8217;s Smithy<\/a>. Above the brow is Blaze Hill and one might have expected that the name originates from a substantial fire up there!
