He gave the land for the original St Gregory&#8217;s Chapel and graveyard in adjacent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2208\">Chapel Street<\/a>&nbsp;together with the land for St John&#8217;s church opposite the end of Turner Street in Church Street. Perhaps he should have been honoured with more than this short street and the Turner&#8217;s Arms! (now The Turners).<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3801 size-full alignright\" title=\"The Owlhurst, c.2010 - we have nothing earlier!\" src=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/whittakers7899.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\">Whittaker&#8217;s Bag Mill<\/strong>. Bag refers to flour bags. When milling ceased the building became Bannister&#8217;s joinery workshop. That use ended with a fire in the 1980s. The building was converted into apartments at the end of the 20thC.<\/p>\n<p>When originally built the mill was known as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=3968\">The Owlhurst<\/a>. It was owned around 1836 by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=5091\">Edward Sheldon<\/a>.
