How was it formed?<\/h2>\n
In 1972, Dawson Farm was sold to Wardle Homes, backed by Barretts. They planned to build 350 houses on 33 acres of land between Oak Lane and the canal. Residents were mobilised against the proposal and KRA was formed to co-ordinate a response to the proposal. The proposal was turned down and Kerridge became a Conservation Area. KRA had to fight the developers every year for the next ten years!<\/p>\n
What else has it achieved?<\/h2>\n

KRA also organise the Christmas party and the village Christmas Tree. They have also been responsible for organising the roadside daffodils, the Millennium stones, yearly clean-up sessions and regularly contribute towards insurance for the Kerridge War Memorial.<\/p>\n
The Residents Association have been instrumental in ensuring the bus route travels to the heart of the village and they are constantly in touch with the Council about issues which have been raised by Residents \u2013 such as the implementation of new refuse and recycling collections, the reinstatement and replacement of grit bins, the opening and maintenance of public footpaths, and improvement of heritage features.<\/p>\n
Membership<\/a><\/h2>\nKRA is a forum run for and by residents. KRA meetings enable issues to be aired and we can contact the council on behalf of residents. Your subscription enables KRA to maintain village initiatives, and represent the residents\u2019 interests in matters affecting the village.<\/p>\n
Membership is open to all residents who are interested in the aims of the association. Subscription is \u00a32 per year per household.<\/p>\n
The KRA committee meet approximately 8 times a year, at 8pm, at the Hollin Hall Hotel. Meetings last up to an hour and are usually the first Monday of the month. All members are welcome.<\/p>\n
