The Happy Valley website was launched in 1996 by Tim Boddington<\/strong> and maintained solely by him until 2017 when he was joined by Neville Bester. Neville undertook the huge task of converting the website from old technology to WordPress, the modern system for managing websites the easy way! During the conversion time, Linda Stewart<\/a><\/strong> began her development of the history pages. In early 2019 Neville dropped out and Linda became an administrator in support of Tim Boddington. <\/p>\n

30 Years of Happiness!<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

My home town is known as the Happy Valley!<\/i> It’s certainly well named! I have lived here for more than 50 years, and I can think of no place I would rather live! The Happy Valley website has been developed by me over a period of 30 years – see 30 Years of Happiness!<\/em><\/a> Neville Bester joined me in 2017 and carried through a major project to upgrade the site using modern WordPress content management technology, and I congratulate him on the most excellent result. This has made continuing maintenance very much easier, and is now enabling others to have controlled access to their own pages. While under continuous development, with the welcome support of Linda Stewart<\/a>, the pages provide copious amounts of basic information as well as describing many of the interesting features and history of the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Linda Stewart<\/strong> is a true Bollingtonian! Her family has been here for centuries! She has contributed to the web site by researching and writing a number of history pages, starting with that for her own, Stewart family<\/a>. This was her first experience of web site development, and thoroughly enthused, she has gone on to research many houses and families and prepared pages for them. We look forward to many more from her.<\/p>\n

Linda helped to write a walking guide book, for the Poacher\u2019s Inn<\/a>. The book presents 18 circular walking routes, leaving from and returning to the pub. The book is available for purchase from the Poacher\u2019s Inn<\/a>. She also contributed to a website that accompanied the book, Bollington Outdoors<\/a>. This site has now been incorporated into the happyvalley website.<\/p>\n

Linda is an accomplished artist, she specialises in painting animals. She started painting in 2007 for three years; then took a nine year break. She restarted in 2018. Have a look at her web pages<\/a> – as you will see, her favourite subject is dogs! <\/p>\n

Neville Bester<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>Neville has an interest in writing websites, and while living in the town of Bollington he hosted the Bollington Outdoors web site (now included in the Happy Valley website<\/a>). He wrote and published a walking guide book, for the Poacher’s Inn<\/a>. The book presents 18 circular walking routes, leaving from and returning to the pub. Neville generously volunteered, in 2017, to take on the task of moving Tim Boddington’s original Happy Valley website to this more modern format, for two reasons: one, because he had always had an interest in the development of websites (and the computer languages used to do so), and two, because he knew he would learn a lot about Bollington on the way. And in moving the website, he has brought a lot of the information up to date.<\/p>\n

Neville has moved away now and no longer contributes to the site. We are immensely grateful for all the hard work he put in to convert and update the website and thank him for this considerable contribution.<\/p>\n
