It was out of church use and converted to a domestic property in 1982. It seems that fund raising for its construction went on for almost 60 years. A subscription list opened in 1839 shows that the Swindells family were particularly generous in their donations towards construction of the church. It seems that many of them would not have lived to see the finished building, pictured right in 1896. Tradition<a id=\"trad\"><\/a> holds that John Wesley himself preached here<sup><a href=\"#references\">[<em>4<\/em>]<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>From the list of subscriptions<a name=\"subscriptions\"><\/a> at Bollington, 1839<sup><a href=\"#references\">[<em>1<\/em>]<\/a><\/sup>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Martin [I] Swindells Esq., 250Gns<sup><a href=\"#references\">[<em>2<\/em>]<\/a><\/sup> (250 guineas, \u00a3262.50)<\/li>\n<li>Mrs Swindells, 100Gns<\/li>\n<li>Martin [II] Swindells junior, 100Gns<\/li>\n<li>Mrs M Swindells, 10Gns<\/li>\n<li>Master Swindells, 30Gns<\/li>\n<li>Mr George Swindells, 50Gns<\/li>\n<li>Miss Swindells, 30Gns<\/li>\n<li>Mrs Sumner, 50Gns<\/li>\n<li>Master George Sumner, 20Gns<\/li>\n<li>M Swindells Esq. in memory of the late Miss Swindells, 50Gns<\/li>\n<li>Mrs Swindells in memory of her mother Mrs Shepley, 50Gns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These subscriptions alone added up to 740Gns (\u00a3777.00, equiv. c.\u00a3800,000 in 2020).<\/p>\n<p>A memorial plaque to those members of the Kerridge Methodist Sunday School who were killed in the two wars was originally installed at this church, and on closure in 1982, it was moved to Holy Trinity church, and on that closure was moved to St Oswald&#8217;s church at Bollington Cross.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"library\"><\/a>The chapel was also used as the local library in the 1950s and 60s.<sup><a href=\"#references\">[<em>3<\/em>]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<hr noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"1\">\n<h3>References<a id=\"references\"><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"piccredit\">Clicking the reference description takes you back to the text<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"refs\"><a href=\"#subscriptions\"><em>A Century of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Bollington<\/em>, W.H.
