Ann was born in Wheelton, Lancashire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In 1880 he married Frances &#8216;Fanny&#8217; Merinda Audley (1862 \u2013 1942) from Newcastle-under-Lyme and they moved with Joseph&#8217;s job (Calico Printing company) to Bollington where he worked at <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2810\">Ingersley Vale<\/a> Bleach works for A.J King. At first he lived in <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2300\">High Street<\/a> with Fanny then <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=2216\">Church Street<\/a> and eventually settled for many decades in <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=4054\">Rock Cottage<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=925\">Beeston Mount<\/a> where they raised their nine surviving children (two died young). Then sadly losing two sons, <a href=\"https:\/\/happyvalley.org.uk\/?page_id=4439\">Gordon and Hedley<\/a>, in WW1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Joseph&nbsp;was one of the founder members of the Bollington and Knutsford Conservative Party and was made an honorary life member. He is photographed here (front left ) as one of the eight longest serving employees.
