This unlikely title announces a group of Mountain Bikers, a tough but popular sport in this hilly district. We meet most Sunday mornings, usually at the crack of dawn outside the The Turners<\/a>. We spend several weekends a year in such places as the Lake District, Wales and the Yorkshire Dales. Each year we also take a foreign trip, the Costa Del Sol being a popular destination.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meetings every Tuesday in the The Turners<\/a>, Ingersley Road, Bollington, from 8.30pm. The group organise trips to the UK and Europe. Local rideouts if it ever stops raining. Trackday events. Cheshire East Council operate a countryside Ranger Service and they have an office at Adlington Road<\/a>, Bollington, beside the railway viaduct – better known today as the Middlewood Way<\/a>. Enquiries can be made there about the Middlewood Way, Lindow Common (Wilmslow), Jackson’s Brickworks (Higher Poynton) and Poynton Coppice (Higher Poynton).<\/em><\/p>\n

The Rangers provide very many outdoor events throughout the year across the east Cheshire countryside and at the leisure facilities belonging to the borough. Get a copy of their booklet <\/em>Get Out! for full details of their excellent programme.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Bollington and Royal Oak Angling Society is a small friendly fishing club which is located in the village of Bollington.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have several pools in and around the village including a small stretch of the River Dean. All our pools are well stocked with mainly Roach, Bream, Tench, Perch, Pike, Carp and Gudgeon.<\/em><\/p>\n

The club is open to anyone who wishes to join, we have reduced prices for OAP\u2019s, Junior\u2019s and lady anglers.<\/em><\/p>\n

Regular walks are organised by the Bridgend Centre. There is a small charge for joining these walks. See their web page<\/a><\/span> for full details.<\/em><\/p>\n

‘Walks for Health’ are short guided walks in Bollington and surrounding areas. Suitable for those who want a gentle walk and an opportunity to meet others. These are organised for the summer months and often take place in the lighter evenings.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Wednesday walks are very popular. They vary in difficulty and length each week and so they have a ratings system to provide information on the difficulty of each one. Check the web site for the programme and details of the difficulty rating. They all meet at the Centre at 10am for 10:15am departure.<\/em><\/p>\n

There are longer walks twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, usually meet at the Centre at 10am for 10:15am departure. These Saturday walks are usually 8-12 miles in length, typically a bit shorter in winter.<\/em><\/p>\n

Walking <\/a>Festival<\/h2>\n

Bollington organises a very popular Walking Festival each year in the last week or so of September, Next Walking Festival<\/A>: 4-13 September 2026, with walks to suit all standards, from short on the level strolls, to 10+ miles day long hikes over the hills. <\/p>\n

Social Walking Group<\/h2>\n

We meet <\/em>[they don’t say who they are or where in Bollington they meet, information required please!] every Tuesday for a 5km stroll around the Middlewood Way and canal. The group is free and open to Cheshire East residents who are new to walking or feel the need to take more exercise. Each walk will take around one hour 15 minutes.
