John Thomas Allaby

Noted here because of the interesting medal, a silver fob medallion dated 1895, which bears his name. The purpose of this medallion and the reason for its award are not known. The medallion is in silver so it must have been something significant. The shield is in a contrasting metal. Manufactured by John Gilbert (& Co.) Birmingham Assay Office list. Shows signs of wear so must have been worn extensively, showing how much pride there was in having been awarded it.
