Bollington Live! is devised, written, edited and distributed entirely by volunteer effort. Only the printing is put out to contract, which has always been done through Bollington Printshop. We are a band of 10 to 15 Bollingtonians known as the editorial group who create the magazine – the numbers vary over time. In addition there are around 30 volunteers known as the distribution group who deliver the c.5,000 copies to every home in Bollington, Kerridge, Pott Shrigley and Whiteley Green.
We would like you to join us in this activity! There is no pressure; everyone does the task that they choose to do. We have a committee of chairman, secretary, treasurer, editor and two advertising sellers. The other volunteers in the editorial group write articles, often on subjects that they suggest, because the subjects interest them. We meet twice for each edition and we produce three editions each year, so only six meetings a year, each about one hour duration. Our January meeting has become our AGM, and we only thought we should have one of those after 13 years of publication! It’s all very relaxed. And very good fun – satisfyingly creative and with a great sense of achievement when another first rate edition comes out!
We are always looking for new members with new ideas for the editorial group. If you are feeling creative and would like to try your hand at writing a short article on any subject that has some relevance to Bollington and its people then why not start right now and email the editor, Annette Hurst. You will be very welcome!
Editorial Group meeting
Everyone with an interest is invited to join one of our meetings; please email the editor for details of the next meeting – usually held in one of the local pubs. Do join us, you will be most welcome!
