A little girl was sent by her mother to Macclesfield on Christmas Eve to buy a turkey. She could find none and on return to Bollington went to Edward Heathcote's butchers shop in tears. Edward said he had one left - the Christmas turkey intended for his own family. The little girl was Stephanie who later married Edward's son Christopher.
