Notes for Muriel PERKIN 30 March 1947: emigrated from Liverpool on MS Dunnottar Castle * 11 September 1948: return to Liverpool on RMS Empress of Australia ** * MS Dunnottar Castle was in UK Government service until 1948 when, on return to her owners, Union Castle, she was comprehensively overhauled before in 1949 resuming her passenger service between London and South Africa. ** RMS Empress of Australia was a troop carrier from WWII until 1952. [159]
This all suggests that Muriel was in the British military while undertaking these sea journeys. [163]
