Notes for Ronald POTTS 17 September 1943: "Promoted in Canada. F/O Ronald POTTS, RAF. Younger
son of Mr
& Mrs Harry Potts, of 2 Water Street, Bollington, after a training course of 6 months duration in
Canada has now attained the rank of Flying Officer. He is still in Canada and is a flying
instructor. F/O POTTS is 27 years of age and joined the RAF about 2 and a half years ago.
He married Miss Isobel THOMPSON of Oswaldtwistle. At the completion of a training course
in November his wife and parents expect him home in the new year. In his early days he
was employed by the Fine Cotton Spinners [and Doublers] Association at the research
department. Leaving here he became a textile specialist at the British Enka, Aintree,
Liverpool. F/O POTTS is well known in the district. He was a member of Bollington Cross
Football Team."
